BULKHEAD has confirmed that its large-scale tactical shooter WARDOGS will be coming to consoles in 2028. The game is launching on PC first, with the console versions planned for a later date.
WARDOGS is now available on PC through Steam Early Access. The developer plans to continue working on the game throughout Early Access, adding new content and making improvements based on player feedback.
The game focuses on large-scale team battles with up to 100 players taking part in a single match. Players are split into three teams and must work together to capture objectives across the battlefield. Unlike a traditional battle royale, players can return to the fight after being eliminated.
Although the initial release is limited to PC, BULKHEAD has confirmed that PlayStation and Xbox versions are in development and are scheduled to arrive in 2028. The studio will have additional time to polish the game and expand its content before bringing it to consoles.
WARDOGS has already managed to attract a significant amount of attention ahead of its launch. During its recent testing period, the game surpassed 200,000 concurrent players on Steam, giving BULKHEAD a strong indication of the interest surrounding the project.
The developer has also acknowledged that player numbers will naturally change once the initial excitement surrounding the launch settles down. Rather than focusing only on launch numbers, BULKHEAD says it wants to build a stable community around WARDOGS over the long term.
For now, WARDOGS is available on PC through Early Access, while console players will have to wait until 2028. BULKHEAD has yet to announce an exact release date for the PlayStation and Xbox versions, but more information is expected as development continues.
