Ubisoft details PS5 Pro Enhancements for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Ubisoft has revealed new technical details for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, confirming that the remake will take full advantage of both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro with a variety of graphical enhancements, new display modes, and next-generation features.

Built using the latest version of Ubisoft’s Anvil Engine, the game introduces a number of improvements over the original release. Alongside support for HDR, Dolby Atmos, and DualSense haptic feedback, every graphics mode on PS5 and PS5 Pro will run at an upscaled 2160p resolution.

PS5 Graphics Modes

Players on the standard PlayStation 5 will be able to choose from three display options depending on whether they prefer smoother gameplay or higher visual quality.

  • Performance Mode – Targets 60 FPS with standard ray tracing.
  • Balanced Mode – Runs at 40 FPS with enhanced ray tracing.
  • Fidelity Mode – Delivers 30 FPS with enhanced ray tracing.

PS5 Pro Enhancements

The PlayStation 5 Pro version expands on those features with several exclusive improvements.

Ubisoft has confirmed that every graphics mode on PS5 Pro benefits from the latest version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), offering improved image reconstruction and sharper visuals while reducing the visual gap between Performance and Fidelity modes.

The upgraded console also delivers more advanced ray tracing across all display modes, allowing for improved lighting and reflections without sacrificing image quality.

Another notable enhancement is strand-based hair rendering, a feature that simulates individual hair strands instead of traditional textures. Ubisoft says this technology will be applied to Edward Kenway during gameplay, extended to NPC crowds in Fidelity Mode, and used for every character during cinematic scenes.

While Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been rebuilt to take advantage of current-generation hardware across both PlayStation consoles, the PS5 Pro version appears to be the definitive way to experience the remake. Between upgraded PSSR, enhanced ray tracing, and more advanced character rendering, Ubisoft is aiming to deliver a noticeable visual improvement over the standard PS5 release.

With the remake set to launch soon, these newly revealed technical details provide a clearer picture of how Black Flag Resynced will perform across Sony’s latest hardware.
