Lara Croft’s long-awaited return may be taking a little longer than expected. According to a new report circulating within the Tomb Raider community, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has reportedly been pushed back to February 2027, moving away from its previously announced 2026 release window.
The information originates from community source Society of Raiders, a group that previously gained attention for accurately leaking details about Legacy of Atlantis before its official reveal at The Game Awards 2025. While neither Crystal Dynamics nor Amazon Game Studios has confirmed the delay, the rumor has quickly gained traction among fans.
Alongside the reported delay, several new screenshots from the game have also surfaced online. The images reportedly showcase updated environments, Lara Croft’s redesigned appearance, and additional glimpses of the game’s interpretation of the legendary Atlantis storyline. While the screenshots remain unofficial, they have sparked fresh discussion about the project’s scale and visual ambitions.

Announced during The Game Awards 2025, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a modern reimagining of the original 1996 Tomb Raider. Built in Unreal Engine 5 by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog, the game aims to revisit Lara Croft’s first adventure while expanding its story, environments, and gameplay systems for modern audiences.
The title is one of two major Tomb Raider projects currently in development, alongside Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which is scheduled to launch in 2027. If the reported delay proves accurate, it remains unclear how Crystal Dynamics plans to space out the releases of both games.
For now, fans are still waiting for an official update from Crystal Dynamics. With Summer showcase season underway, many are expecting the studio to finally provide new details on Lara Croft’s next adventure in the near future. Until then, the reported February 2027 launch date should be treated as a rumor rather than a confirmed release window.
Do you think Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis needs more development time, or were you hoping to play Lara Croft’s new adventure in 2026?
Has Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis been officially delayed?
No. The reported February 2027 release date comes from an unconfirmed leak and has not been officially announced by Crystal Dynamics.
