Microsoft and The Coalition have shared new details about the multiplayer experience coming to Gears of War: E-Day, confirming the return of classic competitive modes alongside brand-new content and expanded co-op options.
The latest reveal outlines several new features that will be available at launch, including a new Horde experience, improved movement mechanics, and a revamped progression system. Players will also be able to jump into an Open Beta ahead of release.

The franchise’s iconic competitive mode is back, bringing classic team-based multiplayer to E-Day. - New 12-Player Horde Siege
A brand-new Horde experience supports three squads of four players battling increasingly difficult enemy waves together. - Four-Player Online Campaign Co-op
Players can experience the entire campaign online with up to four friends. - Two-Player Split-Screen Co-op on Xbox
Local co-op returns, allowing two players to tackle the campaign together on the same console. - New Emergence Day Multiplayer Maps
Several multiplayer maps are set during Emergence Day, offering new battlegrounds inspired by one of the most important events in the Gears universe. - Refined Movement and Traversal
Movement has been updated with smoother traversal and more responsive controls while maintaining the series’ signature cover-based combat. - Progression, Challenges, and Seasonal Content
