Blizzard has officially revealed the first details about Diablo V, giving players an early look at the game’s story, world, classes, and gameplay systems. While the game is still in the early stages of development, Blizzard has already shared several important details about what players can expect from the next chapter of the series.
Here is everything we know about Diablo V so far.
Diablo has won
Diablo V takes place in a Sanctuary that has already fallen. Diablo has conquered the world and is using its people and souls as weapons in the Eternal Conflict. Unlike previous games, Diablo will be an active presence from the very beginning of the story.
The Heir of Westmarch
The player character takes on the role of the Heir to Westmarch, traveling through the remains of a kingdom that has been transformed into an outpost of Hell. The character also has a mysterious connection to Diablo, making them both a threat to him and vulnerable to his influence.
A Devastated Sanctuary

The world of Diablo V is already living through an apocalypse. Humanity has been pushed to the brink, while the Western Continent has become the center of Diablo’s rule. The environment will also change dynamically, with terrain, points of interest, enemies, and rewards able to change between visits.
A Caravan of Survivors

With Sanctuary under Diablo’s control, players will not simply rely on towns and strongholds for safety. Instead, they will build a growing caravan of survivors and allies who travel alongside them. These characters will also serve as vendors and companions, each with their own stories and backgrounds.
New three classes
Blizzard has confirmed the first three classes for Diablo V: Demon Hunter, Monk, and Plague Knight.

- Demon Hunter: The Demon Hunter returns to Diablo V with its signature twin crossbows and a strong focus on speed and mobility. The class is designed to stay constantly on the move, using ranged attacks to deal damage while quickly repositioning around enemies. Its abilities also allow it to make use of traps, explosives, and other tools to control the battlefield.

- Monk: The Monk returns as a fast-paced melee class built around martial arts and holy powers. Players can chain together different attacks to create powerful combinations, while its spiritual abilities provide additional ways to deal with groups of enemies. The Monk’s mobility and close-range combat style make it well suited for players who prefer an aggressive approach.

- Plague Knight: The Plague Knight is a completely new class introduced in Diablo V. Rather than relying on traditional weapons alone, the class uses disease, poison, and pestilence to overwhelm its enemies. Its abilities are centered around spreading corruption across the battlefield, allowing players to weaken groups of enemies and turn their own suffering into an advantage.
More Classes on the Way
Blizzard has confirmed that these are only the first classes being revealed for Diablo V. More classes and additional details about combat, progression, and character builds will be shared as development continues.
Itemization is taking inspiration from Diablo II: Blizzard wants items in Diablo V to feel more memorable and rewarding to find. The game is taking inspiration from Diablo II, including experiments with stat requirements and larger inventory items taking up more slots.
Sets, Runes, and Runewords Return

Gear-based sets will return in Diablo V alongside a deeper crafting system. Blizzard is also bringing back Runes and Runewords, once again drawing inspiration from Diablo II.
Blizzard has made it clear that Diablo V is still in the early stages of development. The studio plans to begin sharing regular updates in 2027, giving players a closer look at the game’s development and the systems being worked on.
