Ghost of Yōtei new mode revealed at State of Play

Ghost of Yōtei received a major new gameplay reveal during the September 2026 State of Play, where Sucker Punch showcased Ghost of Yōte: Most Wanted, a new single-player combat mode coming to the game. The biggest surprise was the reveal that Jin Sakai will join the playable roster, bringing the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima back into the series.

Ghost of Yōte: Most Wanted is built around a run-based structure in which players take on different targets and fight through increasingly challenging enemy encounters. Each run gives players opportunities to strengthen their character with new abilities and upgrades, allowing different builds to be created depending on the choices made during the run. The mode will feature four playable characters, with Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato and Jin Sakai each offering a different combat style.

Jin will also retain the four combat stances associated with his original appearance in Ghost of Tsushima, while the other characters come with their own weapons and abilities. Progress made in Most Wanted will also provide additional customization options that can be used outside the mode, giving players a reason to experiment with its different challenges.

The new mode will arrive alongside Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara, the game’s upcoming narrative expansion. Both pieces of content are scheduled to launch on October 1, 2026, as part of the Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition. Existing players will also be able to access the new content through the Complete Edition Upgrade.
