The Witcher 3 Remastered PC requirements revealed

CD Projekt Red has revealed the initial PC hardware requirements for The Witcher 3 Remastered, giving players a first look at what will be needed to run the updated version of Geralt’s adventure. The new edition is being prepared with a range of visual and technical improvements, making the hardware requirements noticeably higher than those of the original game.

The remastered version is scheduled to launch on September 29, 2026. Players who already own The Witcher 3 on supported platforms will also be able to access the updated version without purchasing the game again.

For PC players, Windows 11 will be required, while an SSD and at least 12 GB of RAM will also be necessary. Here are the currently listed specifications:

The listed specifications suggest that the remaster is not targeting only high-end gaming PCs. A relatively modest modern system should be enough to meet the minimum requirements, while players with hardware around the recommended level should have a more comfortable experience.

The increased requirements are tied to the technical improvements being introduced with the remastered edition. CD Projekt Red is upgrading the game’s graphics and several gameplay systems, with improvements planned for lighting, environments, character visuals, combat, movement and other parts of the experience.

The remaster will also make use of newer hardware capabilities, meaning players with older systems may not be able to take full advantage of all the graphical improvements. The 70 GB SSD requirement is another indication that the updated version has been designed with current PC hardware in mind.

The new version is not limited to PC either. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered is also coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with the updated edition bringing the classic RPG to current-generation platforms.

CD Projekt Red has also made it clear that the currently listed PC specifications are not necessarily final. The requirements could be adjusted before release as development continues and the studio completes its optimization work.

With the September release approaching, PC players now have a better idea of whether their systems are ready. The remaster is particularly interesting for players who have not returned to The Witcher 3 in years, as the combination of upgraded visuals and gameplay changes could make another playthrough feel considerably different.
