GTA 6’s 26-minute gameplay reveal is finally here

Rockstar Games has finally released its long-awaited Grand Theft Auto VI Extended Look, giving fans their most extensive official look at the game so far. The presentation runs for around 26 minutes and focuses heavily on gameplay, Jason and Lucia, and the massive world of Leonida.

Unlike the previous trailers, the new showcase spends much more time demonstrating how GTA 6 actually plays. Rockstar moves between story sequences, open-world exploration and action-packed missions, giving players a better idea of what they can expect when the game launches.

A major part of the presentation focuses on Jason and Lucia and their relationship. The two protagonists are shown working together during criminal operations, travelling around Vice City and dealing with situations that quickly become much more dangerous than expected.

The Extended Look highlights several parts of GTA 6:

  • Jason and Lucia – Both protagonists receive significant gameplay footage, including moments where they work together and separate.
  • Vice City – Rockstar provides a much broader look at the city, its streets, interiors, nightlife and surrounding areas.
  • Combat – Gunfights, close-range encounters and battles against police and criminals are shown throughout the presentation.
  • Driving – Cars, motorcycles, boats and other vehicles are featured across different parts of Leonida.
  • Robberies – Jason and Lucia are shown carrying out several criminal operations, including store and business robberies.
  • Character switching – The footage demonstrates how the game can move between Jason and Lucia during different situations.
  • Side activities – Players can be seen taking part in activities away from the main story, including racing, diving, boating and parachuting.
  • A living open world – Crowded streets, detailed interiors, wildlife and numerous NPC interactions make Leonida feel considerably more active.

The showcase also gives fans a much better understanding of the relationship between the two protagonists. Jason and Lucia are not simply separate characters with independent stories; their partnership appears to be central to the game’s narrative and several of the missions shown in the presentation.

Rockstar also spends considerable time showing locations outside central Vice City. Rural areas, waterways and other parts of Leonida are briefly featured, suggesting that the game’s world extends far beyond the city’s urban environment.

The technical presentation is another major highlight. Detailed character models, realistic lighting, crowded environments and highly detailed interiors are visible throughout the footage. The entire Extended Look was captured using in-game footage on PlayStation 5, giving players a direct indication of how the game is being presented on current-generation hardware.

The official reveal arrives shortly after Rockstar addressed the recent GTA 6 leaks. The studio had previously apologized to fans after unauthorized gameplay footage spread online, making the Extended Look an opportunity to finally present the game through its own official material.

After years of waiting, fans now have their most detailed official look at Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar still has several months before launch to reveal more information, but this Extended Look has already provided a much clearer picture of the game’s world, gameplay and protagonists.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
