PlayStation State of Play could be bigger than expected

Sony Interactive Entertainment could be planning one of its biggest presentations in recent years, as new reports suggest the upcoming June State of Play may run significantly longer than first announced.

Sony previously confirmed that the showcase will take place on June 2, featuring updates, reveals, and gameplay presentations for upcoming PS5 titles. However, newer information now points toward the event potentially lasting around 90 minutes, which would make it much larger than a typical State of Play broadcast.

Part of the speculation comes from special fan-screening events reportedly being organized in select theaters across the United States. These events will allow PlayStation fans to watch the showcase live in cinemas, with additional activities, giveaways, and themed presentations planned around the broadcast.

The longer runtime is already fueling speculation online about what Sony could be preparing. While Marvel’s Wolverine has already been confirmed for the event, many players now believe several other major PlayStation projects could also appear during the showcase.

At the moment, Sony hasn’t officially clarified whether the full presentation itself will actually last 90 minutes or if the theater events include extra segments before and after the stream. Still, the scale of the planned screenings suggests the company is treating this showcase as a much bigger event than usual.

With summer showcase season approaching and anticipation around PlayStation’s first-party lineup continuing to grow, expectations for the June presentation are rising quickly.

So, do you think Sony is preparing a massive showcase this summer, or are expectations starting to get too high again?
