The leaks from last month were right; PlayStation Portal has finally received full cloud gaming support. Sony announced today that the update is officially rolling out, allowing users to stream their digital PS5 games directly from the cloud.
We previously reported on early leaks in our story “PS Portal Could Become Much More” when this feature was still in testing. Now, it’s officially live. Portal is no longer limited to local Wi-Fi Remote Play thanks to Sony’s cloud infrastructure, players can enjoy PS5 games even when their console isn’t turned on or nearby.
The new PlayStation Portal cloud streaming update introduces a redesigned interface featuring three main tabs: Remote Play, Cloud Streaming, and Search. The first option continues to let players pair their PS5 and Portal to access installed games. The new Cloud Streaming tab, however, enables PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to stream supported titles instantly, without the need for downloads. The Search tab helps users find compatible games quickly and easily.

According to Sony, the cloud streaming service supports both physical and digital PS5 titles, with flagship games like God of War Ragnarök, Spider-Man 2, and Horizon Forbidden West playable through the cloud. Visual performance reaches up to 1080p at 60 FPS, with reduced latency thanks to Sony’s upgraded streaming tech.
The update will begin rolling out on November 5 at 6:00 p.m. PT / November 6 at 2:00 a.m. GMT, gradually becoming available to players worldwide.
With this, PlayStation Portal is no longer just a “remote play device”, it’s evolving into a portable PlayStation console in its own right. Share your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned to both X and VGNW for the latest updates.
