Path of Exile 2 is free to play this weekend

Grinding Gear Games has announced a special free-play event for Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids, giving players a full weekend to jump into the sequel at no cost. The reveal was made through an official video message featuring studio director Jonathan Rogers, who encouraged both newcomers and long-time ARPG fans to take advantage of the opportunity.

This limited-time event allows players to explore the game’s new classes, combat revamps, and early progression systems while also earning three exclusive cosmetic microtransactions simply by participating throughout the weekend. It’s a chance to experiment, test builds, and get a taste of the sequel’s direction without any commitment.

Grinding Gear Games later confirmed that the free-play window runs from December 12 to December 15 (PST) across all supported platforms, giving players multiple days to dive in and unlock the rewards.

As Path of Exile 2 continues to evolve with new regions, systems, and long-term updates planned for 2025, this event feels designed to bring a wider audience into the fold. For many, it may be the perfect moment to see how the sequel differentiates itself while staying rooted in the franchise’s deep buildcrafting identity.
