The long-running rivalry between Call of Duty and Battlefield is officially back on. According to the latest data from market research firm Circana, for the week ending October 25, 2025, Call of Duty HQ (the combined hub for Modern Warfare III and Warzone) was the second most-played game across both PlayStation and Xbox in the United States. The number-one spot, as usual, went to Fortnite, which continues to dominate the charts week after week.
But the biggest surprise came from Battlefield 6. DICE’s latest entry in the series jumped to number 5 on Xbox, marking one of the strongest surges of the month, while holding the number 7 position on PlayStation. The increase in active Xbox players suggests that EA’s cross-platform strategy is starting to pay off.
On PlayStation, the top five list shaped up like this:
- Fortnite
- Call of Duty HQ
- Roblox
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Battlefield 6
Meanwhile, NBA 2K24, Madden NFL 25, Minecraft, and EA Sports FC 25 kept their steady positions within the weekly engagement charts.

Over on Xbox, the momentum was even stronger. Battlefield 6 managed to overtake Halo Infinite, a symbolic milestone that instantly sparked the phrase “Battlefield is back” across fan communities. Titles like Rainbow Six Siege, No Man’s Sky, and Starfield also continue to maintain healthy player activity on the platform.
Industry analysts are calling this a “rebirth moment” for the Battlefield franchise. After several uneven years, the player resurgence has given EA a much-needed boost, even as Call of Duty still reigns as the dominant force in the FPS market.
The numbers make one thing clear: The 2025 fall season has become one of the most competitive in FPS history. With Activision and EA both pushing seasonal content and live updates, players are getting pulled back into the fight more than ever before.
So the question remains; is Battlefield 6’s rise the start of a lasting comeback, or just a brief spark before Call of Duty reclaims the crown? Share your thoughts and stay tuned to both X and VGNW for the latest updates.
