If you’re stuck on the “Shadow in the Void” quest in Crimson Desert, especially at the “pursue Caliburn” objective, you’re not alone.
The game can easily lose track of your objective if you leave the boss area, making it extremely confusing to find your way back.
The quest could be confusing if you exit the boss fight and return later:
- The waypoint may appear in the middle of nowhere
- The objective marker becomes unreliable
- You’re no longer guided to the correct entrance

How to get back to the boss area
To reach the Caliburn boss again, you need to return to a specific platform.
Follow these steps:
- Head toward either Triangle Ring or Dry Valley
- Use teleport paths that connect toward the central area
- Look for the X-shaped platform, this is the key location
This platform is the only proper access point back to the boss sequence.
Use teleporters correctly
In this area:
- Teleporters send you in the direction shown by the path lines
- You may need previously activated fast travel points
- If fast travel doesn’t work, stop moving, your character must stand still
These small details are easy to miss but essential to getting back on track.
Entering the boss again
Once you reach the X platform:
- Move toward the large doors used earlier
- The first abyss portal will activate
- Enter it, then proceed to the next portal
The second portal is what actually takes you to the Caliburn-related boss encounter.
Important tip: This boss is not directly accessible from the open world.
- You must go through the portal sequence
- There is no shortcut or alternate entrance
- Returning the same way you first entered is required
The “Shadow in the Void” quest can be frustrating if you leave the area, mainly because the game doesn’t properly guide you back.
