Death Stranding 2 has reportedly sold over millions copies

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has reportedly sold more than 2.5 million copies across PlayStation 5 and PC, according to new estimates from market research firm Alinea Analytics.

The latest figures suggest that the game has sold around 1.8 million copies on PlayStation and approximately 700,000 copies on Steam. Combined, the two platforms are estimated to have generated around $170 million in revenue.

Death Stranding 2 launched on PS5 in June 2025 before making its way to PC. According to Alinea Analytics, around 1 million copies of the PS5 version were sold during its first two months, with sales slowing considerably afterward.

The game reportedly sold around 722,000 copies on PlayStation during its first month and another 381,000 in July 2025. However, monthly sales later dropped significantly, with the game selling fewer than 30,000 copies in August. Price reductions also reportedly had a limited impact on sales.

The PC release followed a similar pattern. Alinea estimates that around 550,000 of the game’s 700,000 Steam sales came during its first two months on the platform, meaning most of its PC sales were made relatively early after launch.

For comparison, the original Death Stranding has reportedly sold around 5 million copies since its launch in 2019. However, the first game has had considerably more time on the market and has received deeper discounts over the years, making a direct comparison difficult.

For now, the latest estimates show that Death Stranding 2 has attracted a sizeable audience across both platforms. However, the slower sales following its initial launch could become an important factor in discussions about the game’s overall commercial performance.
