The Maneater series is officially making a return. Tripwire Interactive has announced Maneater 2 during the latest PlayStation State of Play, revealing the first trailer for the upcoming shark-focused action game.
The sequel is currently in development for PlayStation 5 and is planned to launch in 2027. The first trailer gives players an early look at the new adventure, once again putting them in control of a deadly shark.
The announcement keeps the series’ core idea intact, with players taking on the role of a shark and exploring an open environment while hunting other creatures and humans. The new game appears to be building on the original’s mix of exploration, combat and progression while introducing a fresh setting and new challenges.
The trailer also showcases several locations filled with swimmers, boats and other potential targets, alongside larger encounters that suggest the sequel will offer more variety than the original game.
Maneater 2 is being developed specifically for the current generation, with the game coming to PS5 in 2027. More details about its gameplay, story and exact release date are expected to be revealed as development continues.
The announcement gives fans of the original Maneater another chance to return to its unusual underwater world, this time with a new adventure built for current-generation hardware.
