Grand Theft Auto VI has already made a strong impression on Take-Two Interactive, even though its pre-order period had only been open for a few days when the company’s latest financial quarter ended. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick described the early response to GTA 6 as being on an entirely different level compared to the company’s previous releases.
GTA 6 pre-orders officially opened on June 25, while Take-Two’s latest quarterly reporting period ended on June 30. This means the company’s financial results only covered the game’s first five days of pre-order activity, making the response even more notable.
Speaking about the game’s early performance, Zelnick highlighted the exceptionally strong demand from players:
“The level of pre-orders is unprecedented and astonishing, and we’re very grateful for that.”
Despite the strong reaction, Take-Two has not revealed exactly how many copies of GTA 6 have been pre-ordered so far. The company has also not disclosed how much revenue came directly from GTA 6 during this initial period.
Take-Two reported $1.53 billion in total revenue for the quarter, but this figure represents the company’s overall business and should not be interpreted as the amount generated by GTA 6 pre-orders. Likewise, the company’s reported $1.39 billion in net bookings covers its wider portfolio rather than GTA 6 alone.
The publisher’s latest results also showed continued strength from its established franchises. However, GTA 6 remains by far the biggest upcoming release in Take-Two’s portfolio, and the company appears to be seeing exceptionally high demand even before the game reaches launch.
The early pre-order performance is particularly interesting considering how little time players have actually had to place their orders. With the game still several months away, Rockstar has plenty of time to build additional momentum through new trailers, gameplay footage, marketing campaigns, and other announcements.
Take-Two has not provided a specific pre-order target for GTA 6, meaning there is currently no official figure to compare these early results against. For now, the company is simply emphasizing how unusually strong the initial response has been.
With Grand Theft Auto VI scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, the real test will come when the game finally reaches players. If the current level of interest continues through launch, GTA 6 could be on track for an enormous commercial debut.
