As concerns continue to grow over the future of physical game releases following Rockstar’s decision to ship GTA 6 retail editions without a playable disc, Halo Studios has delivered some welcome news for collectors. The developer has confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved will include a physical game disc inside its boxed editions for both Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
The confirmation came during Halo Studios’ latest community Q&A, where one of the most common questions focused on whether players purchasing a physical copy would actually receive a disc. According to the studio, anyone buying the Xbox or PlayStation version at retail will get both a physical case and a game disc, giving collectors something tangible to add to their shelves.

The announcement stands in sharp contrast to recent industry trends, where several publishers have shifted toward boxed editions that contain only a digital download code. Halo Studios’ decision has been welcomed by fans who continue to value physical media for collecting, ownership, and game preservation.
That said, the studio also notes that players will still need to download additional game data before playing. While the disc contains the game, it won’t include everything required for the full experience, meaning an internet connection and extra download will still be necessary.
With physical media becoming increasingly rare across the industry, Halo: Campaign Evolved has become one of the few upcoming AAA releases to reassure collectors that a boxed copy will still include an actual disc.
Will Halo: Campaign Evolved include a physical disc?
Yes. Halo Studios has confirmed that both the Xbox Series X and PS5 retail editions will ship with a game disc inside the box.
