The FPS battlefield may have a new contender drawing serious attention. Delta Force is currently outperforming several of the genre’s most recognizable franchises on Steam, at least when it comes to concurrent player activity, one of the clearest indicators of real-time engagement.
Originally returning as a modern free-to-play tactical shooter, Delta Force leans into large-scale combat, objective-driven gameplay, and a live-service structure designed to keep players rotating through matches. Instead of relying purely on franchise nostalgia, the game has focused on accessibility and constant activity, two factors that often translate directly into higher player counts.
The timing is especially interesting given the competition. On one side sits Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, a franchise synonymous with blockbuster launches and massive annual hype cycles. On the other is Battlefield 6, a series long associated with large-scale warfare and cinematic multiplayer chaos. Both names carry years of brand recognition and deeply established player communities.
Yet despite that legacy power, current Steam charts show Delta Force pulling ahead in simultaneous players. Recent data places the game at roughly 135,000 players active at the same time, comfortably above the figures currently recorded for both Call of Duty and Battlefield.

Breaking past titles of that scale is not something that happens quietly. Concurrent player counts reflect what people are choosing to play right now, not what they purchased months ago, making the milestone particularly notable in such a crowded genre.
That said, the shooter market is famously volatile. Player attention can swing rapidly with major updates, seasonal launches, or new content drops. Established franchises also tend to rebound quickly once fresh material arrives, meaning today’s leaderboard is never guaranteed to be tomorrow’s.
