IO Interactive has shared a new development update for 007 First Light. The team says the game is progressing strongly and is already fully playable from beginning to end, but they want more time to refine the overall experience, strengthen systems, and make sure the final product delivers the kind of smooth, cinematic spy thriller fans are expecting.
Positioned as IO Interactive’s most ambitious project to date, 007 First Light is designed to capture everything people love about Bond; global espionage, stylish action, cutting-edge spycraft, high-stakes chases, and plenty of gadgets. As an independent developer and publisher handling a franchise with this level of legacy, IO says quality is the priority, and rushing to meet an earlier target simply didn’t make sense.
That decision means the studio has officially moved the game’s launch back by two months, locking in the new release date for May 27, 2026. IO Interactive thanked players for their patience and continued support, and confirmed that more updates and details will be shared as development pushes toward the finish line in early 2026.
For Bond fans, the wait just got a little longer but if it means a sharper, more polished experience, it’s probably the kind of delay worth taking. Stay tuned to VGNW and follow on X for more news on 007 First Light right here on VGNW.
