Resident Evil Requiem leak shows a familiar face’s return

Resident Evil fans may have just received an unexpected hint about the direction of Requiem, and it didn’t come from a trailer or announcement but from a PlayStation Store slip-up. Players who accessed the pre-order screen of Resident Evil Requiem for the PS5 version were shown artwork featuring lead character Grace Ashcroft, and standing subtly behind her was a character who looks unmistakably like Leon S. Kennedy, one of the franchise’s most recognizable heroes.

The leak also surfaced alongside a pre-download date listed as February 25, 2026, two days before Requiem’s scheduled launch. While early download timing is normal, the accidental inclusion of potentially revealing artwork is anything but.

The image wasn’t meant to be a reveal, but it’s more than enough to ignite speculation. Until now, Capcom has framed Requiem as Grace’s story, positioning her as the new face of the series. This apparent leak suggests the game may not be as standalone as fans assumed. Whether Leon plays a major supporting role, appears briefly in specific missions, or is simply included for marketing purposes remains unknown but his presence on promotional art rarely happens without intention.

If Leon does return, Requiem could follow a structure that blends new blood and veteran icons, giving longtime fans a familiar anchor while still pushing the narrative forward through Grace. It opens the door to dual-perspective chapters, intersecting storylines, or a cameo that sets up future installments. Until Capcom comments, however, everything remains in the realm of well-supported but unofficial speculation.
