Gifting has finally arrived on Epic Games Store, and the process is surprisingly simple. Whether you want to send a friend their favorite game or surprise someone with a DLC drop, Epic’s new system lets you buy and deliver gifts directly through the store in just a few steps.
1. Open the Epic Games Store
Start by launching the Epic Games Launcher on PC or opening the store through your browser. Make sure you’re logged into the correct Epic account before you continue, your gifts will be sent from this profile.
2. Find the Game You Want to Gift
Use the search bar or browse the store until you reach the game’s page. Most games support gifting, including deluxe editions and bundles, but a few third-party titles may have restrictions.
3. Select “Buy as a Gift”
On the game’s store page, you’ll see the usual “Buy” button, but now there’s also a “Buy as a Gift” option. Clicking it opens a panel with your Epic friends list and available recipients.
4. Choose the Recipient
Pick the friend you want to send the game to.
Note: Epic only allows gifting to players who have been on your friends list for at least 2 weeks, to reduce fraud and scam attempts.
5. Add a Message (Optional)
Before confirming, you can include a short message. Whether it’s “happy birthday,” “good luck,” or “you better play this with me,” this part is totally optionali but it adds a nice touch.
6. Complete the Purchase
Choose your payment method and finalize your order. Epic will process the purchase just like a regular game buy, except the game is delivered directly to your friend instead of your own library.
7. Recipient Accepts the Gift
Once the purchase is complete, your friend receives a notification in the Epic Launcher and an email. They simply click “Accept Gift”, and the game is instantly added to their library.
Gifting arrival finally makes sharing games with friends as simple as it should be. Whether you’re celebrating something, saying thanks, or just dragging a friend into a new obsession with you, the whole system is built to be quick, safe, and effortless.
Epic is expected to expand gifting over time, so more supported titles, flexible options, and smoother cross-region features may be on the way. For now, that’s everything you need to start surprising people on your friends list.
