The world of Minecraft is growing once again. Mojang has unveiled a brand-new content pack titled Mounts of Mayhem, bringing more danger and more adventure to the game. This expansion introduces not just new items but also revamped mount mechanics and fearsome new desert mobs.
Focusing heavily on the desert biome, Mojang says the goal is to transform the area from “a place to explore” into “a place to survive.”
The newly released Snapshot 25w44a marks the first step toward the full Mounts of Mayhem update. Players exploring deserts will now have more to fear than just the scorching heat: They’ll face new creatures and new challenges. Testing has already begun in the Java Edition Snapshot and will soon arrive for Bedrock Preview as well.
New Mob: Parched (Desert Skeleton)
Roaming the burning sands, the Parched is a new type of skeleton that doesn’t burn in daylight, meaning you’re no longer safe in the desert, even under the sun. Parched archers fire arrows that inflict Weakness, and Mojang describes them as “the spirit of the drought.” Their cracked bones, faded armor, and glowing orange eyes make them one of the most haunting enemies in the game.
New Mob: Camel Husk (Zombie Camel)
The second addition is the Camel Husk, a zombified camel that appears during the night. Like other undead mobs, it’s immune to sunlight. These creatures don’t roam alone, a Husk can spawn riding on top, creating deadly mounted enemies. Defeat them, however, and you’ll be able to tame and ride the camel yourself. It’s a perfect mix of combat and exploration, classic Mojang design philosophy.
With the Mounts of Mayhem pack, Minecraft doesn’t just add new enemies; it changes the rhythm of survival. The desert is no longer a calm expanse of sand, but a battlefield of heat, hunger, and danger.
