It hasn’t even been a full day since Hytale’s revival announcement, yet the momentum is already picking up. Yesterday, Simon declared, “Original vision is back. We are back home.”, breaking years of silence. Today, the official Hytale channels began dropping brand-new screenshots, early in-engine footage, and a fresh set of creation tools for players. The game feels like it has woken up from a long sleep and this time, it truly looks like it’s moving forward.
The newly released images are exactly what the community has been desperate to see: Towering glowing creatures in dark caverns,

Armored enemies emerging from lava-lit fortresses,

Updated lighting, improved animations, and a sharper, more polished version of Hytale’s signature voxel style. It’s still very much “work in progress,” but for the first time in years, it resembles something genuinely playable.

The team didn’t stop there. Hytale now includes a brand-new tab called Creation Tools. This suite lets players do everything from spawning simple NPCs to manipulating full world generation.

The idea is to make content creation a natural part of the game’s DNA; beginner-friendly, easy to learn, but deep enough for advanced creators who want full control.

Another major highlight came from Simon’s message to modders and server owners. According to him, Hytale will take 0% revenue from modders and server hosts for at least the first two years. And there will be no exclusivity clauses of any kind. The philosophy is clear: “By the players, for the players.”
Hytale’s comeback isn’t limited to screenshots. The team has also released a 16-minute official video showcasing early in-engine gameplay, new environments, creatures, and a first look at the restored legacy tech in motion. It’s the most substantial update fans have received in years, and you can watch the full video directly below to see exactly how the game is shaping up.
Simon also shared a brutally honest update early this morning: “The game is broken. Not good. It’s our mission to make it good.” It’s a sharp statement, but a sincere one; the team isn’t hiding the current state of the project, yet they’re determined to finally turn Hytale into the game it was always meant to be.
Stay tuned to VGNW and X as we cover every new screenshot, dev update, and early access milestone as Hytale finally makes its way back to life.
