The Final Fantasy 7 universe continues to be rewritten. While the second installment, Rebirth, earned praise for its emotional storytelling, the first behind-the-scenes comments about the third and final chapter have once again pushed expectations sky-high. It seems Square Enix wants this finale to speak not only to long-time fans, but also to today’s new generation of players.
Square Enix director Naoki Hamaguchi shared a clear and confident message while discussing the last entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy:
“I already have a clear vision for the ending of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. I believe this finale will resonate with both those who loved the original and those who became fans through the Remake series. I’m confident everyone will love this new game.”

This statement, made during Tokyo Game Show 2025, carries a strong sense of assurance, promising both nostalgia and freshness for different audiences. Hamaguchi also mentioned that development is “progressing smoothly,” though he remained silent on the release date.
Given the mixed reactions following Rebirth, Hamaguchi’s claim that this will be “a game everyone will love” is undeniably bold. Previous chapters faced criticism over pacing, mini-games, and story divergences.
If Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 truly manages to stay faithful to the original while offering a revitalized experience for new players, Hamaguchi’s ambitious promise could become more than just a prediction. But then again, pleasing everyone has always been the toughest quest; even for the strongest heroes.
What do you think about Hamaguchi’s confident statement? Can Square Enix truly pull it off this time?
