Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 players say some art looks like AI

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is in the conversation this week, and interestingly, it’s not because of weapon tuning or server issues. Players have been calling out certain pieces of artwork in the game, saying they look AI-generated. Mission cards, operator illustrations, and a few promo-style images are the main ones being pointed at.

The complaints aren’t about anything specific being proven AI-made, it’s more about the vibe. Some faces look oddly proportioned, some poses feel stiff, and a few images just don’t match the usual style Call of Duty is known for. That was enough to kick off a discussion that spread quickly across social media.

As the debate picked up, Activision stepped in with a statement. The company’s message:

“Our teams use a variety of digital tool, including AI tools to help us deliver the best possible experiences for players and to support our development process.”

So they’re not saying, “yes, these images were made with AI,” but they’re also not denying that AI tools exist in the pipeline. Naturally, that leaves players with more questions. What exactly is AI being used for? Are these tools part of the art pipeline or just support software? And how much human work is behind the final images?

Reactions are split. Some players see the statement as harmless, nearly every major studio uses some kind of AI-assisted tool these days. Others think the answer avoids the real question and want more clarity, especially for a series known for strong art direction and detailed character work.

Right now, Activision hasn’t given any further clarification, and players are watching closely to see if future updates adjust any of the visuals being discussed.

Stay tuned to VGNW and X, we’ll keep following the story and update you if Activision shares more.
